Gas vs Electric & Dryer Types
Do gas dryers need vent cleaning more often than electric?
Same schedule, annually, but it is more important because gas dryer vents carry carbon monoxide. We also check that the gas dryer's exhaust is not venting near windows or intakes.
Do you disconnect the gas line to move the dryer?
No. We slide the dryer out only as far as the flexible gas connector safely allows, which is enough to reach the vent connection. We do not disconnect gas.
Can you clean the vent on a stacked washer-dryer unit?
Yes. We clean from the exterior cap and through the transition hose where reachable. Stacked units in closets often have crushed hoses, which we replace.
Do ventless or heat-pump dryers need vent cleaning?
No. Ventless and heat-pump dryers have no exterior duct. They do need their internal filters and condenser cleaned regularly per the manual.
Does a brand-new dryer need a clean vent?
Yes. Connecting a new dryer to an old lint-filled duct shortens its life and voids some warranty claims. We recommend cleaning the vent whenever a new dryer is installed.
What is the transition hose and why do you replace it?
The transition hose is the short flexible duct connecting the dryer to the wall duct. Foil and plastic versions sag, crush behind the dryer, and trap lint. We replace them with semi-rigid aluminum for $39 including the hose.
Does a dryer vent affect the dryer's moisture sensor?
Yes. Poor airflow keeps humid air in the drum, so the sensor keeps the cycle running. Many "my dryer runs forever on sensor dry" complaints are vent problems.
